GSIS EXPANDS SUPPORT FOR LAST-MILE SCHOOLS UNDER ADOPT-A-SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is expanding its Adopt-a-School Program, increasing support from 25 to 30 last-mile schools nationwide in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd).

Under a newly signed memorandum of agreement (MOA), GSIS will allocate PHP400,000 per school from 2024 to 2027 to provide essential learning tools and facilities to underserved communities.

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso emphasized the long-term impact of the initiative, which has already supported 165 schools over the past decade. “We are not just delivering equipment – we are opening doors to possibilities,” he said.

Since its launch in 2014, the program has equipped schools with laptops, printers, smart TVs, mobile tablets, LCD projectors, sound systems, interactive boards, photocopiers, and security systems.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara praised GSIS’ commitment, calling it a “lifelong relief” for students. In 2024, GSIS also funded solar panel installations in Mindanao schools to ensure sustainable learning environments.

Teachers from beneficiary schools expressed their gratitude, highlighting how modern technology has made classes more interactive and improved the teaching process.
