Holy Angel University’s Center for Kapampangan Studies (HAU-CKS) will launch the Pinatubo Interactive Kiosk on October 2, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Pinatubo Museum.
The interactive exhibit seeks to preserve the history and human stories behind the June 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, one of the most significant volcanic disasters in recent Philippine history.
The disaster’s impact continued for years, with massive lahar flows burying communities, agricultural lands, roads, and other areas across Pampanga. By 1995, successive lahar flows remained a major threat to affected communities.
As part of the launch, Cecil Yumul will share her firsthand account of the Pinatubo disaster, offering a personal perspective on the experiences of those who witnessed and lived through the catastrophe.
Developed by fourth-year students of the Holy Angel University School of Computing, the Pinatubo Interactive Kiosk combines history, science, technology, and personal testimonies.
Visitors will be able to explore:
- Real-life accounts through recorded interviews with survivors and victims of the eruption
- Scientific explanations about Mount Pinatubo, its eruption, and the resulting lahar flows
- The first-ever Virtual Pinatubo Game, providing an interactive way to learn about the disaster and its impact
More than a technological exhibit, the kiosk serves as an educational platform designed to preserve the stories, experiences, and lessons of the Pinatubo disaster for future generations.
