Ilocos Norte student wins International Math Olympiad

Grade 11 student Ashley Cassandra Rasos of Sarrat National High School was crowned world champion in the Senior Secondary category of the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad on Sunday, August 23.

Rasos earned perfect scores in Logical Thinking, Algebra, Number Theory, and Geometry, receiving the Boole, Leibniz, Euler, and Euclid Awards, respectively. She competed with the guidance of coach Michael Malvar.

Other Sarrat National High School representatives also earned honors, with Kurt Arjan Palalay and merit awardee Immanuel Gamayo competing in Secondary 1, while Clark Kent Malaqui and Patrick Jirah Cabasaan received bronze awards in Secondary 2.

Except for Cabasaan, all the Sarrat representatives were first-time participants.
