Kapampangan-made altar makes historic debut in U.S. parish

A landmark moment for Filipino sacred art has been marked with the unveiling of a Kapampangan-made altar at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Parish in the United States, highlighting the growing global reach of Pampanga’s religious craftsmanship.

The parish now showcases what is regarded as one of the largest collections of contemporary Kapampangan liturgical sculptures in the country, featuring a main retablo, daily altar, and adoration chapel. Each installation reflects the intricate detailing and devotional artistry rooted in Kapampangan tradition.

The works were created by renowned sculptor Willy Layug, whose craftsmanship has long been recognized in church art installations across the Philippines and abroad.
