Mabalacat City Mayor Geld Aquino conducted an inspection of riverbanks and creeks in various areas of the city, from Barangay Calumpang and Sapang Balen to Mabiga, to assess damage and erosion caused by continuous rains from the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

Aquino, accompanied by City Engineer Rod De Leon and CDRRMO Chief Jeffrey Santos, also inspected slope protection structures affected by strong water currents.

The Mabalacat City Government will coordinate with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the repair of damaged slope protection structures. Areas without existing protection will likewise be endorsed for appropriate measures to prevent further erosion.

The inspection aims to help protect residents living near rivers and creeks, particularly those in areas vulnerable to riverbank erosion and strong water flows.
