The National Academy of Sports (NAS) in New Clark City is expanding its facilities to strengthen the development of the country’s next generation of athletes following the formal turnover of its second phase of completed facilities by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
Led by BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang and NAS Executive Director Assoc. Prof. Francis Carlos Diaz, the turnover covered the Sports Performance Building, Gymnastics Hall, and Staff Residences, all ready for operations.
The Sports Performance Building will support sports science, conditioning, and high-performance development, while the Gymnastics Hall will provide a dedicated venue for specialized training. The staff residences will support personnel working with NAS student-athletes.
Since opening in 2021, NAS has provided Filipino student-athletes with an environment where academic excellence and high-level sports training go hand in hand.
BCDA said the new facilities will help provide young athletes with better training environments and stronger support as they prepare to compete at the highest level.
Joining the turnover were NAS Board members, CHED Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III, representing Chairperson Shirley Agrupis; DepEd Undersecretary Malcolm S. Garma, representing Secretary Sonny Angara; and Philippine Sports Commission Chairperson Patrick “Pato” Gregorio.
