Pinatubo marker unveiled on 35th Anniversary of Eruption

The Provincial Government of Pampanga unveiled the Provincial Pinatubo Marker in Bacolor as part of the commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the Mount Pinatubo eruption, honoring the resilience, unity, and recovery of Kapampangans following one of the province’s most devastating disasters.

Representing Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda at the ceremony were 1st District Board Member Cherry Manalo, 3rd District Board Member Michaeline Gonzales, and 4th District Board Member Dr. Kaye Naguit.

“The lessons of Pinatubo continue to guide our safety and health programs. This 35th anniversary reminds us that public service becomes more meaningful when it comes from the heart,” Naguit said.

Also present were Bacolor Mayor Eduardo “Diman” Datu, Councilors Renz Canlas and Aiza Cunanan, Foundation for Lingap Kapampangan Vice President Sonia Soto, and Center for Kapampangan Studies Director Myra Lopez.

Prior to the unveiling, a Mass and ceremonial wreath-laying were held in honor of those who lost their lives, the heroes who extended help, and the communities that rose again after the June 15, 1991 eruption.
