Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda present the damage sustained by the Santo Cristo Dam in Lubao to Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon and National Irrigation Administration officials following heavy rains on August 28.
Raging floodwaters carried trees and mud from the Zambales mountain range, causing debris to block and divert the flow of water. The resulting surge swept away four houses in a nearby village.
The dam is set to undergo repairs, while tree-planting efforts in the upper areas are also being pushed to help address the effects of runoff and soil erosion.
The provincial officials thank Secretary Dizon for immediately conducting an inspection following the governor’s request.
