SEC, IBP join forces to fight investment scams

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), through its Tarlac Extension Office, and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) have formalized a partnership to strengthen public education on investor protection and combat investment scams.

The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Agreement under the SEC Communication, Advocacy and Network (SEC CAN!) initiative during the 2026 IBP Central Luzon Regional Convention held on June 26 at Widus Hotel.

Under the agreement, the SEC and IBP will jointly conduct:

  • Seminars and trainings on corporate and securities laws;
  • Financial literacy and investor education programs;
  • Campaigns promoting responsible investing; and
  • Public awareness initiatives against fraudulent investment schemes.

The agreement was signed by SEC Tarlac Director Atty. Richard R. Laus and IBP National President Atty. Allan G. Panolong.

Laus said the partnership aims to empower the public through legal awareness, investor education, and good governance, while helping protect Filipinos from fraudulent investment schemes.

The collaboration forms part of the SEC’s continuing efforts to promote financial literacy, strengthen investor protection, and foster a more transparent and resilient capital market.
