The Shrine of Saint Padre Pio in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, was officially declared an international shrine during a Mass presided over by Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David of Kalookan on September 23, 2026.
The historic celebration reflected the shrine’s growing international character, with bishops from across Asia attending the Mass, including Cardinal Poola Anthony of India.
Cardinal David, vice president of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences, led the Eucharistic celebration marking the shrine’s new status.
The declaration further highlights the Shrine of Saint Padre Pio’s significance as a place of prayer and devotion for Filipino and international pilgrims.
