SM Foundation welcomed its largest-ever batch of 1,100 new college scholars, marking the biggest intake in the history of its SM College Scholarship Program during a scholarship awarding ceremony held on July 3.
Founded by SM visionary Henry “Tatang” Sy Sr., the scholarship program continues to expand access to higher education for deserving but financially challenged Filipino youth, reflecting the Foundation’s belief that education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty.
Beyond financial assistance, scholars receive holistic support designed to help them succeed academically, develop strong values, and prepare for meaningful careers. During the ceremony, the new scholars also participated in an interactive session highlighting resilience, adaptability, and purpose as keys to overcoming challenges in college and beyond.
Since its inception, the SM College Scholarship Program has supported 7,376 scholars and produced 4,640 graduates, many of whom have gone on to uplift their families and contribute to their communities. The newest scholars now join that growing legacy of transforming lives through education.
