The Provincial Government of Tarlac’s “Certified to Care: Tarlac’s Barangay Health Workers’ Capacity Development Program” underwent preliminary validation for the Galing Pook 2026 Awards on September 21 at the VIP Room of the Bulwagang KanLahi.

The validation was conducted by evaluators from the Local Government Academy (LGA) and the Galing Pook Foundation as part of the national awards’ assessment of innovative and effective local government initiatives.

Under the Certified to Care Program, barangay health workers across Tarlac receive continuous learning and capacity-building opportunities to strengthen their ability to provide essential health services in their communities.

The Galing Pook National Selection Committee validators reviewed program documents, interviewed stakeholders, conducted community consultations and visited project sites to verify the program’s reported accomplishments and impact.

Provincial government department heads and employees also joined Provincial Administrator Dr. Krishna Buenaventura during the validation.

The assessment provides an opportunity to showcase Tarlac’s efforts to strengthen community-based healthcare by investing in the knowledge and capabilities of its frontline barangay health workers.
