Fire contained as safety, security operations continue
The fire that hit the Pampang Public Market in Angeles City reached the fourth alarm as firefighters continued operations at the scene.
FCInsp. Sheila Marie Carlos said the fire had been contained within the affected area, while firefighting and monitoring efforts remained ongoing.
As a precaution, Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II ordered the temporary closure of the market’s sari-sari and wet sections while authorities conduct a safety assessment to ensure the protection of vendors, customers, and the public.
Mayor Jon also urged the public not to take advantage of the situation following reports of alleged attempts to steal from some market stalls. Additional police personnel were deployed to secure the area and protect the properties of market vendors.
Authorities have yet to release official information on the cause of the fire, number of affected stalls, and total cost of damages.
Assessment and security operations remain ongoing.
