COMELEC JUNKS DISQUALIFICATION CASE VS TARLAC CITY MAYORAL BET SUSAN YAP

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Second Division has dismissed the disqualification case filed against former Tarlac Governor Susan Yap, affirming her eligibility to run for mayor of Tarlac City in the 2025 elections.

In a resolution dated April 14, 2025, the poll body found no strong evidence to support the disqualification petition filed by Barangay Tibag Captain Jay-ar Navarro and Amado De Leon, who questioned Yap’s residency status. The COMELEC ruled that the statements submitted by the petitioners lacked merit and were deemed to be motivated by personal interest.

Yap welcomed the decision, emphasizing that the ruling proves her genuine residency in Tarlac City. She said the accusations against her were baseless and meant to undermine her long-standing commitment to public service.

“This resolution is a victory not just for me, but for every Tarlaqueño who believes in truth, integrity, and genuine leadership,” Yap said. “No amount of deception or lies can stop our shared dream of progress for Tarlac City.”

Yap vowed to continue her campaign and serve with integrity if elected, under the banner of her advocacy for inclusive and transformative governance.
