Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon on Wednesday, October 8, conducted an on-site inspection of the damaged Piggatan Bridge in Alcala, Cagayan, following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to immediately assess the situation and address disruptions to the movement of goods and services.
Joining Secretary Dizon were officials from the DPWH Regional Office II, Cagayan Governor Edgardo Aglipay, and Alcala Mayor Christina Antonio. The team discussed immediate and long-term solutions to restore connectivity—particularly crucial during the ongoing harvest season when the transport of rice, corn, and other agricultural products is vital to local livelihoods and the regional economy.

Dizon emphasized the urgency of coordinated action among local and national agencies to minimize delays and ensure that affected communities continue to access essential goods and services without interruption.
