In a symbolic turnover ceremony held on March 18, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon emphasized the significance of M/V Amazing Grace as a representation of unconditional service and love for the country. The event marked the official handover of the vessel from the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The ceremony, led by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, who also serves as an Auxiliary Vice Admiral of the PCG, showcased a significant milestone in the partnership between the PRC and the PCG. This collaboration aims to elevate humanitarian services and maritime security, aligning with the words of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who has consistently reiterated, “We are the people’s servant and not their Lord.”

The M/V Amazing Grace will play a pivotal role in enhancing the PCG’s disaster relief operations, maritime law enforcement, and overall disaster response capabilities. It is expected to strengthen the country’s ability to address maritime distress situations across the archipelago.

In addition to the vessel, two units of Barracuda RHIBs from Grab Philippines and 100 units of Starlink Kits were also turned over to the PCG. These assets will further improve the PCG’s ability to provide immediate and efficient responses to emergencies and safeguard the nation’s waters.
