In a bid to strengthen road safety across the country, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has issued Department Order No. 2025-008, mandating mandatory alcohol and drug testing for all public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers.
The directive covers drivers of all PUVs, including motorcycle taxi riders, and requires them to undergo drug testing before employment. According to the order, the cost of testing will be borne by vehicle operators and owners.
The move aligns with the national government’s intensified road safety campaign, following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure safer roads for all Filipinos.
