The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has unveiled a new solar-powered water system in Angat, Bulacan, marking a significant step towards sustainability and eco-friendly development.
The initiative aims to provide residents with a reliable and environmentally friendly source of clean drinking water.
George Santos, DPWH Bulacan 2nd District Engineer, highlighted that the solar-powered system uses rooftop solar panels to run the entire setup, further promoting renewable energy.

“The project enhances water accessibility while ensuring that the water undergoes a thorough purification process, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases. It also contributes to lowering the carbon footprint and serves as a model for future sustainable projects in line with national goals,” Santos explained.
The facility covers 168 square meters and is equipped with 45 solar panels and six overhead water tanks, with a total capacity of 12,000 liters, ensuring a continuous supply of potable water.
The P9.8-million project, funded under the 2023 national budget, underscores the DPWH’s dedication to improving public health and supporting the community’s development through sustainable solutions. (PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
