Mayor Carmelo β€œPogi” Lazatin Jr. made a heartfelt return to his roots on May 15, 2025, as he served as the Guest of Honor for the 79th Collegiate Commencement Exercises of Republic Central Colleges (RCC) Colegio de San Rafael – Baliti Campus.

A proud alumnus of RCC Angeles City Campus, Mayor Lazatin delivered an inspiring address to the graduating class, reflecting on his journey and the role his alma mater played in shaping his character and leadership.

β€œNapakasaya ko po na nandito ako ngayon kasama kayo bilang guest speaker. Isang karangalan po na bumalik sa paaralan na humubog sa aking kakayahan,” he said.

He fondly recounted his academic yearsβ€”both in college and graduate schoolβ€”spent at RCC, crediting the institution for instilling values that continue to guide him in public service. β€œRCC played a big role in the man I have become today,” he shared.

Mayor Lazatin also took the opportunity to highlight his administration’s education-focused initiatives. Among these are the distribution of free school supplies to more than 100,000 public school students from 2022 to 2024, the establishment of 16 modern computer laboratories, and the launch of Central Luzon’s first solar-powered public schoolβ€”Belen Homesite Elementary School in Barangay Sto. Cristo.

β€œWalang kabataan ang maiiwan pagdating sa larangan ng edukasyon,” the mayor emphasized, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive and quality education.

He closed his message by congratulating the graduates, parents, and faculty members, acknowledging their hard work and perseverance.

Also in attendance during the ceremony were RCC President Dr. Victoria Lazatin-Angeles and Atty. Toti Angeles.
