BDO Empowers SMEs with Cash Management Services to Drive Financial Inclusion

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Negros Occidental are poised to embrace a more efficient way of managing their finances, thanks to BDO Unibank’s Cash Management Services (CMS). Beyond streamlining cash flow, the CMS package is also becoming a valuable tool for fostering financial inclusion among employees.

At a recent SME Forum titled “Usapang Negosyo”, held at the Circle Inn Hotel & Suites in Bacolod City, business owners learned how BDO’s CMS solutions—featuring Business Online Banking, payroll services, and check disbursement—could enhance their operations. The highlight? The opportunity to automate payroll processes while introducing employees to banking for the first time.

Simplifying Payroll, Empowering Employees
One of the forum’s standout features was the CMS payroll system, which automates salary disbursements. Employees receive their salaries directly into newly opened savings accounts, enabling them to save and securely manage their money.

“The payroll system is a win-win. It simplifies the process for us and benefits our employees,” shared Jamielyn Tampus, operator of EcoOil gas station. “Before, we processed payroll manually and used envelopes. Now, even on weekends, salaries can be disbursed with just one click.”

Perry Ong Jr., owner of MOKS Recipes Frozen Foods, echoed this sentiment: “Depositing salaries directly into bank accounts ensures security for our employees. Plus, I’ll save time and can focus on growing my business.”

Notably, employee accounts opened under CMS have no maintaining balance requirements, making banking accessible for all.

Streamlined Supplier Payments
BDO’s CMS also offers a check disbursement feature that automates the preparation, management, and printing of checks. This has proven invaluable for SMEs looking to save time and reduce errors.

“It’s a game-changer,” said Anna Liza Santiago, owner of Triple K Drugstore. “After printing a check, it’s ready to issue to suppliers. No more manual corrections.”

Tampus added, “I issue at least 20 checks monthly. With CMS, I can manage payments online and eliminate errors in spelling or formatting. It’s a huge relief.”

More Time to Grow
According to Grace R. Caguioa, BDO’s First Vice President and Head of Transaction Banking Group CMS-SME Segment, CMS is designed to help SMEs focus on growth. “Entrepreneurs often undervalue their time. By simplifying payments and speeding up collections, CMS allows business owners to concentrate on expanding their ventures,” she said.

Building a Stronger Business Community
The forum also served as a networking platform, enabling SME owners to connect with clients, vendors, and suppliers. “Our goal is to foster collaboration and growth within local business communities,” said Carlo B. Nazareno, Senior Vice President and Head of BDO Cash Management Services. “BDO is committed to providing financial tools and education to help businesses scale up and build resilient supply chains.”

With CMS, BDO Unibank proves it is more than a financial institution—it’s a partner in building sustainable growth for SMEs and their communities.
