The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)–Tarlac Extension Office conducted an investor education seminar for over 95 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Tarlac Provincial Office on July 10 at Camp Macabulos, San Vicente.
The initiative aimed to enhance financial literacy among police personnel, helping them make informed investment decisions and avoid fraudulent schemes. It also supports the SEC’s broader campaign to protect investors and promote financial awareness across sectors.

SEC-Tarlac Director Atty. Richard R. Laus led the session with an overview of the Commission’s mandate and key provisions of the Revised Corporation Code and Securities Regulation Code. Atty. Emerald L. Lansangan, Securities Counsel, discussed sustainable investment options, while SEC Information Officer Mark M. Catacutan highlighted common red flags in scams and how to avoid them.
“This initiative empowers our frontliners not only as guardians of public safety but also as responsible investors. The PNP plays a key role in promoting vigilance against scams in their communities,” Director Laus said.
PNP-Tarlac Provincial Director PCOL Miguel M. Guzman expressed gratitude for the collaboration, saying, “Financial education is a form of protection. This effort strengthens our capacity to protect not just ourselves, but also the public from fraudulent investment activities.”
The event forms part of the SEC’s Communication, Advocacy, and Network (SEC-CAN) initiative, which promotes investor education through partnerships with public and private institutions.
