The Department of Trade and Industry Region 3 presented its accomplishments during the first Kapihan session for the year last July 12. The forum was conducted in a hybrid format where DTI R03 associates convened in the regional office conference room while members of the media and the DTI provincial directors joined via Zoom online platform.
DTI-3 Regional Director Leonila T. Baluyut welcomed the participants and presented an overview of the strategic priorities of the new Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual. She mentioned that the new head of the department wants to give priority to the manufacturing, IT, BPO, minerals, e-vehicles and telecom industries among others. In addition, she made an emphasis on consumer protection reminding everyone that DTI-3 continues to monitor establishments and prices in accordance with the Price Act.
A presentation of DTI-3 initial accomplishments for the year followed. Rowena S. Miranda, Head of the Office of the Regional Director, highlighted the major achievements of the various programs of the agency. The livelihood seeding programs Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) and Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) provided a combined 539 livelihood kits to beneficiaries amounting to Php 5.9 M. Through the Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso (P3) Covid-19 Assistance to Restart Enterprises (CARES) Program, the agency managed to release more than Php 600 M funding to 3,303 applicants who want to start or restart their businesses.
A total of 8 diskwento caravans and 58 trade fairs were also conducted regionwide that generated more than Php 44.8 M in total sales. Monitoring activities reflect 100% compliance rate of establishments and workplaces to relevant laws, guidelines and regulations. Further, from 695 establishments monitored, all have been found to be in compliance with selling products within the suggested retail prices.
Business name registration remains high with 68,909 registrations for the first six months. Newly-registered business names totaled 59,844 while renewals pegged at 9,065. Meanwhile consumer complaints resolution rate is at 95.55% high and DTI services yielded a 99.11% very satisfied rating and 100% satisfied rating from all its clients which reached approximately 80,000 individuals.
Despite the pandemic, DTI-R3 continues to extend quality services to the general public. The agency also remains optimistic on the region’s business outlook for the next half of the year.
Assistant Regional Director Brigida T. Pili delivered the closing remarks and acknowledged the support and services of the press in promoting DTI-3 programs and services.
