The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) took part in Exercise Balikatan 41-2026 through a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) operation conducted aboard BRP Melchora Aquino (MRRV-9702) in the waters off Subic on April 24, 2026.
The exercise showcased inter-agency coordination, with the Philippine Air Force executing fast-rope insertion, while the Philippine Navy Naval Special Operations Group supported the operation using a rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB).
The VBSS activity served as a platform to strengthen joint operational readiness, improve coordination among uniformed services, and enhance resilience amid evolving maritime security challenges.
It also underscored the participating forces’ shared commitment to maintaining a secure, stable, and rules-based maritime domain.
