Pasig City sends rescue team, equipment to Angeles building collapse site

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) deployed a 15-member search and rescue team to Angeles Cityfollowing the collapse of an under-construction building on May 24.

The incident involved a proposed nine-storey concrete building that collapsed early Sunday, prompting large-scale rescue operations in the area.

The deployed personnel, composed of representatives from the Pasig Fire and Rescue Unit and Pasig Emergency Unit, coordinated with the Incident Management Team (IMT) led by the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

At around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, the Pasig City contingent officially checked in as part of the IMT and was assigned to the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team tasked with locating victims trapped in the collapsed structure.

Aside from manpower, the Pasig City government also sent various search and rescue tools and equipment, including life detectors and breaching equipment, transported through a logistics vehicle, rescue truck, and ambulance.

As of 7:20 a.m. on Monday, May 25, authorities reported that 18 individuals remain missing following the building collapse.

The deployment is expected to last for about three days, pending further assessment and coordination by the Pasig City DRRMO and partner agencies.
