PLDT Home Fiber: Always Connected, Always On

PLDT Home has launched Fiber Always On, a new broadband solution designed to keep Filipino households connected even during unexpected fiber service interruptions.

As internet connectivity becomes increasingly essential for work, online learning, entertainment, and communication, PLDT Home introduced what it describes as the country’s first and only hybrid modem that combines fiber and LTE connectivity in a single device.

The Fiber Always On modem automatically switches to its built-in LTE backup whenever fiber service becomes unavailable, allowing users to stay online without manually activating mobile hotspots, subscribing to a separate backup connection, or setting up additional equipment.

According to PLDT Home, the innovation aims to provide a more resilient internet experience by leveraging both its fiber and wireless networks, helping minimize disruptions caused by unforeseen outages.

“Today, the internet has become a vital part of everyday family life—whether it’s for work, online learning, entertainment, or staying close to loved ones. We understand how disruptive it can be when that connection is suddenly interrupted,” said Viboy E. Añonuevo, PLDT Vice President and Head of Home Fixed Broadband.

“That’s why with PLDT Home Fiber Always On, we’re giving families added peace of mind – keeping them reliably connected even during unexpected outages. At PLDT Home, we remain focused on delivering a smarter, more resilient internet experience, powered by the combined strength of our fiber and wireless networks,” he added.

PLDT noted that while its fiber network is designed to be highly resilient, service interruptions can occasionally occur due to accidental damage from construction activities, roadworks, pests, and vehicular incidents. Repair timelines may vary depending on the extent and location of the damage.

To address these challenges, Fiber Always On is designed to enable continuous access to online work, classes, streaming, gaming, and connected home devices during outages. The modem also automatically generates a service repair ticket within 15 minutes of downtime, helping speed up technical response and restoration efforts.

Once fiber service is restored, the modem automatically reconnects to the fiber network without requiring any action from customers.

PLDT Home said the service is particularly beneficial for households with multiple users who rely on uninterrupted connectivity throughout the day for work, study, entertainment, and communication.

Customers who switch to PLDT Home Fiber Plan 1399 and higher can avail themselves of free Fiber Always On service fees for six months, free installation worth P3,600, a speed boost of up to twice the regular rate, and access to unlimited entertainment through Cignal.
