Cebu Pacific expands internship opportunities for deaf students

Cebu Pacific (CEB) has partnered with De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) to provide internship opportunities for Deaf students, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.

The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement with DLS-CSB’s School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS), the country’s pioneering institution for Deaf education. Under the agreement, Cebu Pacific will offer internship placements that provide students with practical work experience and exposure to a professional environment.

The initiative officially began on June 8 with the placement of three SDEAS students under Cebu Pacific’s FLY Internship Program, which offers college undergraduates hands-on learning opportunities across the airline’s operations.

“We’re excited to welcome our students from DLS-CSB to Cebu Pacific and learn alongside them,” said Felix Lopez, Cebu Pacific Chief Human Resources Officer.

“Internships are often a person’s first step into the workforce, and we want that experience to be meaningful, supportive, and empowering. We hope this partnership helps open more doors for Deaf professionals and encourages more organizations to recognize the value that diverse talent brings to the workplace,” he added.

The student interns have been assigned to the airline’s Customer Service Operations – Cabin Operations team, where they will assist in daily operations while gaining valuable insights into the aviation industry. They are set to complete 360 hours of on-the-job training until August 14, 2026.

Ahead of the internship program, Cebu Pacific employees also participated in a Deaf Awareness Session conducted by SDEAS. The activity introduced participants to Deaf culture, inclusive communication practices, and ways to create a more accessible workplace.

The initiative forms part of Cebu Pacific’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for Deaf professionals and other persons with disabilities.

Through partnerships such as this, the airline continues to promote a workplace culture where diverse talents are empowered to thrive and contribute to the company’s long-term success.
