The Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation has partnered with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. to establish a scholarship program aimed at developing more Chinese language educators in the country.
The Memorandum of Agreement was signed during the celebration of International Chinese Language Day, with the theme “Chinese Sparking Colorful Dreams.”
Representing Angeles University Foundation were Vice President for External Affairs and CI-AUF Philippine Director Cavin F. Pamintuan and CI-AUF Chinese Director Yang Zhengchao. FFCCCII officials present included President Victor Lim and Vice President Co Kin Hung.
The scholarship will support students enrolled in AUF’s Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English and Chinese Language Teaching, a dual-specialization program designed to address the shortage of qualified Chinese language teachers in the Philippines.
Through the initiative, selected scholars will be trained as bilingual educators equipped to teach both English and Chinese. Upon completing the program, graduates are expected to serve in schools across the country, contributing to the growth of Chinese language education.
