The Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) is leading the observance of Typhoon and Flood Awareness Week (TFAW) from June 14 to 20, 2026, urging Filipinos to strengthen preparedness against tropical cyclones, floods, and other extreme weather events.
This year’s theme, “Bagyo, Baha, Maghanda Tayo!”, emphasizes science-based preparedness, early warning systems, and community action in reducing disaster risks amid changing climate conditions.
As part of the observance, DOST-PAGASA will conduct information campaigns, Kapit-Kaalaman Conversations, and MAAGAP (Maagang Aksiyon at Akmang Gawin Ayon sa Panahon) seminars to promote greater public awareness on weather hazards and preparedness measures.
A highlight of the celebration is the launch of the PAGASA National Hydro-Meteorological Observing Network (PANaHON) Mobile Application, a new digital platform that provides near real-time weather information and hazard alerts.
The app features an interactive weather map, location-based notifications for tropical cyclone bulletins, thunderstorm and heavy rainfall warnings, flood advisories, as well as hourly forecasts and five-day weather outlooks.
DOST-PAGASA said the initiative forms part of its continuing efforts to protect lives, livelihoods, and properties through timely weather advisories, public awareness programs, and innovative digital tools.
