Philippine Airlines is set to resume its seasonal nonstop flights between Manila and Sapporo for the Winter 2026 travel season, giving Filipino travelers a faster and more convenient way to reach Japan’s northern region during the peak holiday period.
The seasonal service will operate three times weekly from November 23, 2026 to March 26, 2027, connecting Manila directly to New Chitose Airport in Sapporo without the need for multiple flight connections.
Sapporo continues to gain popularity as a winter destination, offering visitors scenic snow-covered landscapes, seasonal attractions such as the Snow Festival, and a vibrant culinary scene. The destination is also seen as an alternative to Japan’s more traditional holiday hotspots, particularly for travelers seeking a more relaxed winter experience.
PAL said the nonstop route significantly reduces travel time, with morning departures from Manila and midday arrivals in Sapporo, allowing passengers to maximize their stay. Return flights are scheduled in the afternoon for added convenience.
The airline will deploy its Airbus A321neo aircraft for the route, featuring Business Class seating, inflight entertainment, Wi-Fi connectivity, and full-service onboard amenities designed for medium-haul travel comfort.
PAL currently operates the largest network between the Philippines and Japan, offering nonstop services to Osaka Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Tokyo Haneda, and Tokyo Narita, including direct flights from Cebu to Osaka Kansai and Tokyo Narita.
To accommodate increased demand during the Christmas and peak travel season, the flag carrier will also increase flight frequencies on its Manila-Osaka and Manila-Narita routes from December 19 to January 11.
Aside from boosting tourism, the Manila-Sapporo route is also expected to support growing cargo demand between Japan and the Philippines by providing additional capacity for the movement of goods.
