President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday announced a significant rollback in fuel prices set to take effect next week, providing relief to motorists amid rising costs.
In a taped video message released April 18, Marcos said diesel prices will decrease by ₱24.94 per liter, gasoline by ₱3.41, and kerosene by ₱2 per liter.
“Mas malaki ito kaysa sa rollback noong nakaraang linggo… may ginhawang parating,” the President said, emphasizing that the latest reduction is larger than the previous week’s adjustment.
He called on oil companies to fully and promptly implement the price cuts, warning that any violations should be reported to the Office of the President and the Department of Energy for immediate action.
Marcos also assured that government support measures for the transport sector will continue, including the ₱10 fuel discount for public utility vehicles and buses, as well as the Service Contracting Program for drivers.
In addition, the Land Transportation Office has granted a three-month extension for expired driver’s licenses, student permits, conductor’s licenses, and vehicle registrations, allowing validity until July without penalties.
The President said the government remains committed to ensuring that relief measures reach Filipinos affected by current economic challenges.
