The Police Regional Office 3 recorded a significant decline incrime incidents across Central Luzon amid the rotational power interruptions experienced in the region beginning May 11.
Based on PRO3 data, focus crime incidents dropped by 39.06 percent from May 11 to 17, 2026, with cases decreasing from 64 recorded incidents during May 4 to 10 to only 39 incidents the following week.
Authorities attributed the decline to intensified police visibility and sustained anti-criminality operations conducted throughout the region, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours when the impact of the brownouts was most felt.
To maintain peace and order, police units increased the deployment of bike patrols, mobile patrols, foot patrols, and strategic checkpoints in crime-prone communities, business districts, major thoroughfares, and residential areas affected by reduced visibility during power interruptions.
PBGEN Jess B. Mendez said the immediate operational adjustments and heightened police presence played a crucial role in ensuring public safety amid the temporary power disruptions.
According to Mendez, police units anticipated possible security concerns during the rotational brownouts, prompting intensified patrol and checkpoint operations, especially during late-night and early morning hours.
He noted that the decline in focus crime incidents reflects the effectiveness of strong police visibility, rapid response operations, and community cooperation in keeping communities safe.
Mendez also emphasized that the accomplishment aligns with the continuing implementation of the Philippine National Police’s Focused Agenda on enhanced police operations and crime prevention, as well as the Safer Cities Program, which promotes proactive public safety measures and increased police visibility in urban and residential areas.
Meanwhile, PRO3 assured the public that intensified patrol operations, intelligence monitoring, and preventive policing efforts will continue across Central Luzon to sustain peace and security despite ongoing challenges brought by the power interruptions.
