The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) joined the nation in commemorating the 127th anniversary of National Flag Day through a solemn flag-raising and tribute ceremony held at 7:00 AM on May 28 at the PRO3 Parade Ground, Camp Olivas.

The event was led by PRO3 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Jean S. Fajardo, and attended by both uniformed and non-uniformed personnel from the Regional Headquarters.

The observance marks the historic first unfurling of the Philippine flag following the victory at the Battle of Alapan in 1898, a pivotal moment that paved the way for the country’s independence. The celebration has since been expanded through Executive Order No. 173, signed by former President Fidel V. Ramos, extending the period of commemoration from May 28 to June 12 each year.

In her message, PBGEN Fajardo emphasized the significance of honoring the flag:
“The celebration of National Flag Day is a reminder of our duty as Filipinos to safeguard and take pride in our flag — the symbol of our history, unity, and sovereignty. May it inspire us to remain united for the good and future of our nation.”

As part of the observance, the public is encouraged to display the Philippine flag in homes, businesses, and public spaces — a symbolic gesture of unity and national identity.
“Our flag is not just an emblem. It reflects the sacrifices of our heroes and the collective aspiration for a more peaceful, progressive, and just society,” PBGEN Fajardo added.
