Scholarships, generators boost Dolores Village

The Bawat Barangay Makikinabang program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is helping improve education opportunities and disaster preparedness in Barangay Dolores, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

Barangay Captain Allan Patio said part of the assistance was used to provide scholarships to five deserving students from low-income families, while another portion funded the purchase of two generators for emergency use.

Creating Opportunities for Students
The scholarship program benefited students selected based on academic performance and financial need, including incoming fourth-year nursing student John Bryan Fajardo.

For Bryan and his family, the scholarship provides vital support in pursuing his education despite financial challenges. His mother, Marianila Fajardo, expressed gratitude for the assistance, saying it would help her son continue his studies and work toward his dream of becoming a nurse.

Bryan also thanked the government for giving students like him the opportunity to achieve their goals through education.

Strengthening Disaster Preparedness Efforts
To improve emergency response capabilities, the barangay acquired two generators that will serve as backup power sources during disasters and power interruptions.

Patio said the generators will help ensure the continuous delivery of essential services and strengthen the community’s readiness during emergencies.

The barangay chief noted that the combined investment in education and disaster preparedness reflects the village’s commitment to maximizing government support for the benefit of residents.
