Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) has earned a spot among the worldโs most sustainable airlines, ranking 18th in the Cirium Flight Emissions Review and emerging as the only Philippine carrier on the global list.
According to Cirium, Cebu Pacific emitted 62.4 grams of COโ per Available Seat Kilometer (ASK) in 2024, one of the lowest in the industry. The achievement reflects the airlineโs ongoing investments in modern, fuel-efficient aircraft and its commitment to greener operations.
โWe are pleased to receive this recognition, which affirms that our efforts are making a real impact. By investing in modern, fuel-efficient aircraft and adopting new technologies, we aim to keep fares affordable while making flying more sustainable for Filipinos,โ said Aileen Isidro, Vice President for Corporate Strategy at Cebu Pacific.
The airline attributed its strong ranking to a decarbonization strategy anchored on fleet modernization and operational efficiency. In 2024, it placed the countryโs largest-ever aircraft orderโup to 152 Airbus A320neo family jets. The NEO fleet alone helped Cebu Pacific avoid an estimated 157,000 tonnes of COโ emissions last year, delivering up to 20% fuel savings per aircraft compared to older models.
Cebu Pacific also became the first low-cost carrier in Southeast Asia to finance a brand-new A321neo through a sustainability-linked loan, directly tying financing costs to emissions-reduction performance. On the ground, the airline has introduced electric ground support equipment (GSE) at NAIA and, in May 2025, completed the countryโs first all-electric aircraft turnaround at Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
These initiatives have bolstered the airlineโs global standing, reflected in its highest-ever ESG score of 46 from S&P Global in 2024.
With 36 domestic and 27 international destinations, Cebu Pacific continues to expand its network while advancing its mission to decarbonize operations and provide safe, affordable, and sustainable travel.
