Mekeni Food Corporation once again celebrated the power of volunteerism, community, and education as it honored 154 young achievers at this year’s Galing ng Batang Mekeni awarding ceremony in Porac, Pampanga.

More than just a recognition of academic excellence, the program reflects Mekeni’s deep-rooted culture of 𝑚𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑠𝑎𝑘𝑖𝑡 and volunteerism, with employees, parents, and the company’s leadership coming together to uplift the next generation. This year’s awardees include 74 elementary pupils, 46 high school students, 30 senior high school students, and 4 college students—all children of Mekeni employees who exemplify hard work, perseverance, and values formation.

“Education has always been at the core of Mekeni’s mission because that’s where our journey began,” shared Mekeni President Pruds Garcia. “Through 𝐺𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑛𝑔 𝐵𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑔 𝑀𝑒𝑘𝑒𝑛𝑖, we honor not only the students but also the tireless parents—our employees—whose daily sacrifices make these achievements possible.”

Mekeni’s advocacy is inspired by its founders, who were educators themselves, and whose vision of community-building continues to guide the company. The event’s success was made possible by the collaborative efforts of volunteer employees who organized and participated in the ceremony, ensuring that each child and family felt recognized and celebrated.

For awardee Mary Camille Santos, the recognition was a shared victory: “This award is not just for me, but also for my parents who work hard every day. I hope one day I can also give back to others, just as Mekeni gives to us.”

Assistant Vice President for HR and Exports Marilou Uy emphasized, “This is not just about awards, but about investing in people. Our founders taught us that when we nurture education and community, we create changemakers who will serve and lead with compassion.”
