115 KRGL members renounce support; 38 firearms surrendered

A total of 115 members and supporters of Komiteng Rehiyon–Gitnang Luzon (KRGL) withdrew their support from the Communist Terrorist Group during a ceremony held on April 27, 2026 at the Camp Captain Julian Olivas Multi-Purpose Hall, marking a new milestone in the government’s peace and security campaign.

The activity was led by Zambales Governor Hermogenes “Jun” Ebdane Jr., chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council, together with Police Regional Office 3 (PRO 3) Regional Director PBGEN Jess B. Mendez and Ulysses Untalan, highlighting coordination among government agencies under the whole-of-nation approach.

The former KRGL members formally signed a pledge of commitment, renouncing their ties with the armed group and expressing support for peace, lawful governance, and community development.

In a significant gesture, they also turned over 38 assorted firearms, signaling their complete disengagement from armed struggle and commitment to peaceful reintegration.

Following the ceremony, a Serbisyo Caravan was conducted, bringing government services such as medical consultations, livelihood assistance, and social programs to support the reintegration of former supporters into mainstream society.

The program concluded with the symbolic destruction of an NPA flag, representing the participants’ rejection of insurgency and support for peace and development.

PBGEN Jess B. Mendez commended the participants for their decision, noting growing public trust in government efforts.

“This mass withdrawal, signing of commitment, and surrender of firearms clearly show that our people are choosing peace over violence… We remain committed to supporting those who return to the fold of the law and ensuring that government services reach every community,” Mendez said.

Authorities said monitoring and support mechanisms will continue for the former members as part of efforts to prevent re-engagement in unlawful activities and address the root causes of insurgency.
