The Department of Education (DepEd) recognized Globe Telecom for its continued support in advancing digital and inclusive learning across the country during the Partners’ Appreciation Program held on May 8, 2026 in Mandaluyong City.
The recognition, led by DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, highlighted Globe’s long-standing contributions in expanding access to education, strengthening digital capabilities, and supporting reforms in the Philippine learning system.
In his message, Angara emphasized the important role of education partners in helping improve schools and shape a better future for Filipino learners. He also acknowledged the contributions of government agencies, international organizations, research institutions, and private sector partners supporting education reforms nationwide.
For more than a decade, Globe has worked closely with DepEd to modernize education through improved connectivity, digital tools, and literacy programs. Its Global Filipino Schools program introduced ICT-enabled learning hubs in public schools and was adopted by DepEd in 2019 as a national model for 21st-century learning.
Launched in 2016, Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program promotes digital citizenship, online safety, and data privacy awareness among students and teachers. The initiative was integrated into the DepEd K–12 curriculum in 2019 and, as of 2025, has reached over 2 million students, trained more than 115,000 teachers, and covered over 4,100 schools nationwide.
The company also expanded its digital inclusion efforts through the Senior Digizen program in 2024, equipping older Filipinos with essential digital skills and online safety knowledge.
Globe is also supporting the Ayala Foundation through the CENTEX Digital Education Program, which combines teacher training and digital learning tools to support differentiated instruction based on students’ learning needs.
During a 12-week pilot implementation, students under the program doubled their average math scores from 27 percent to 56 percent and outperformed comparison schools by 14 percentage points.
