A total of 1,339 members of the Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (JODA) in Pampanga received ₱5,000 each in Cash Relief Assistance (CRA) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office III, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga.
The assistance was distributed to help ease the financial burden of public utility jeepney drivers, many of whom continue to face challenges in their livelihood.
Among the beneficiaries was 83-year-old jeepney driver Jose Gania of San Jose Malino, who has been driving for more than six decades. He expressed gratitude for the government support, saying it is a big help to jeepney drivers like him.
“Salamat po sa ating pamahalaan sa pagdamay sa aming mga namamasadang jeepney driver,” Gania said.
The distribution was led by Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda and DSWD Region 3 Director Venus Rebuldela, together with PSWDO Fe Manarang and 1st District Board Members Christian Halili and Cherry Manalo.
Aside from cash assistance, the provincial government also provided food packs and maintenance medicines to support drivers who continue to work amid economic challenges.
