The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is strengthening biodiversity conservation efforts in Zambales through the operation of the CENRO Masinloc Arboretum, a 7,712-square-meter facility dedicated to preserving indigenous tree species.
The arboretum currently nurtures more than 300 native tree seedlings, including Narra, Molave, Dao, Kalantas, Ipil, Mindoro Pine, Red Nato, Tindalo, and White Lauan, among others.

DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the arboretum serves as a living classroom that promotes awareness and appreciation of native trees and forest ecosystems while encouraging environmental conservation.
CENRO Masinloc Chief Donaver Guevarra said the facility reflects the agency’s commitment to protecting native tree species and fostering environmental stewardship among communities and future generations.
Aside from serving as a repository of indigenous trees, the arboretum highlights the vital role of forests in climate change mitigation, watershed protection, and biodiversity conservation.
