Habagat to bring rains across most of Luzon today

The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring rains over much of Luzon on Thursday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, and Pampanga will experience occasional rains due to the prevailing monsoon.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and the rest of Ilocos Region and Central Luzon are expected to have scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The weather bureau warned that moderate to heavy rainfall in these areas may trigger flash floods and landslides.

The rest of the country will likely experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms caused by localized weather conditions.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon, as well as the western section of Southern Luzon. Other parts of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

PAGASA is also monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. As of 3 a.m., the LPA was located 590 kilometers west of Bacnotan, La Union and has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
