Authorities have arrested two foreign nationals wanted overseas for alleged child exploitation-related offenses in separate operations conducted in Cavite and Tarlac, the Bureau of Immigration reported.
In a statement, BI-Fugitive Search Unit Chief Rendel Ryan Sy said Japanese national Yuto Konno, 43, was arrested in Cavite on May 12.
Konno is reportedly wanted by Japanese authorities for forcible sexual intercourse and forcible indecency involving a child. Records showed he allegedly molested three minors inside a restroom facility in Hokkaido, Japan in 2018. A warrant for his arrest was later issued by the Nagoya Summary Court on Aug. 16, 2024.
Authorities also seized several electronic devices from the suspect that allegedly contained child sexual abuse and exploitation materials.
Immigration records showed Konno entered the Philippines in 2019 as a temporary visitor and had overstayed since April 2022. He was also found to have active blacklist and watchlist orders.
Meanwhile, American national Tony Le, 37, was arrested in Bamban, Tarlac on May 13.
Le is wanted by United States authorities for alleged coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, including offenses linked to child sexual exploitation materials under US federal laws.
The operation stemmed from information shared by the US government regarding his reported presence in Tarlac.
According to immigration authorities, Le had previously been barred from entering the Philippines in February 2024 due to derogatory records tied to possible child exploitation investigations. Authorities believe he may have illegally entered the country.
Both fugitives are currently detained at the BI Warden Facility while awaiting deportation proceedings.
