NEWLY BUILT CLASSROOMS IMPROVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT IN NUEVA ECIJA SCHOOL

Students and teachers at Bicos National High School in Rizal, Nueva Ecija are now benefiting from a newly constructed school building, addressing classroom shortages and improving overall learning conditions.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the 234-square-meter facility, which features two classrooms and can accommodate around 120 students.

DPWH Nueva Ecija 1st OIC-District Engineer Jun Vana said the one-story structure includes essential amenities such as a corridor, reinforced concrete gutters, handwashing stations, a ramp with handrails for Persons with Disabilities, window grilles, parapet walls, and dedicated toilets for each classroom.

“The new building replaces an old structure that had deteriorating floors due to its location on a former fishpond site. With modern amenities and accessibility features, we hope this project fosters academic excellence and strengthens students’ character,” Vana said.

Class adviser Lester Gagarin highlighted the improvements, noting that the new classrooms provide better ventilation and comfort for students.

“The facility is complete with its own restroom, and the windows allow fresh air to circulate, which is essential during summer when classrooms tend to become extremely hot,” Gagarin said.

The project, funded by the Department of Education through its Basic Education Facilities Fund, received a P4.95 million allocation from the 2024 national budget.
