The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy 37,000 police officers across the country to ensure safety and order during the opening of classes on June 16.
In a radio interview on Saturday, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said the deployment aims to strengthen police visibility and beat patrols, particularly in areas surrounding schools and along key routes used by students.
“We are ready. Over 37,000 police officers will be deployed,” Fajardo said, noting that police assistance desks, as well as mobile and foot patrol units, will be stationed to assist students, parents, and school staff.
The class opening will also serve as a test of the quick response policy committed by PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.
Torre announced plans to close all police boxes and community precincts to maximize the visibility of police officers on roads and in public areas. He said this strategy is part of a broader effort to intensify crime prevention and eliminate threats within communities.
The initiative also aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to go beyond improving crime statistics and ensure that the public genuinely feels safe.
