The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has expressed support for the upcoming “White Ribbon March,” an interreligious gathering advocating measures against corruption and political dynasties.
CBCP President Archbishop Gilbert Garcera described the June 28 rally at the EDSA People Power Monument as a non-partisan expression of concern for justice, integrity, and good governance.
In a pastoral message issued on June 22, Garcera said Catholics who wish to join the peaceful gathering may participate prayerfully and respectfully, guided by their conscience and local circumstances.
He also encouraged the faithful not to lose hope amid concerns over corruption, injustice, and declining public trust in institutions, emphasizing the role of prayer and worship in addressing social challenges.
Organized by the Inter-Religious Leaders Council for National Transformation, the White Ribbon March seeks to mobilize support for electoral reforms and raise awareness of governance issues, including corruption and political dynasties.
Organizers expect at least 10,000 participants to attend the rally, which builds on last year’s “Trillion Peso March” protests and activities commemorating the 40th anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution.
